The Sierra Club
A previous entry referenced some environmental organizations that are worth taking a look at or aligning with, and with this entry we bring an additional organization that needs to be included in anyone’s honor roll.Founded in 1892 by naturalist John Muir (who many consider to be America’s most famous and influential naturalist and conservationist), the Sierra Club has 1.3 million members who are now a part of the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. The goals if the Sierra Club are focused on coal alternatives, limitation of greenhouse emissions, clean energy solutions, green transportation, resilient habitats and the safeguarding of communities.Additionally, the clubs offers 350 trips/outings around the country and abroad, outreach programs for urban youth, and even outings in individual neighborhoods and they have over 60 chapters across the country for local presence and representation.
